Taste the Alps: Dining & Local Essentials

Whether you are looking to enjoy a traditional Savoyard fondue after a day on the mountain, grab a quick slope-side lunch, or stock the chalet kitchen for a cozy night in, everything you need is just minutes from Les Albertans.

Here is our local guide to the best restaurants, supermarkets, and essential shops in the Montriond and Morzine valley.

Best Lunch with a View

Le Verdoyant

For us, this is one of the best lunch spots in the valley.

The terrace overlooks the stunning emerald waters of Lac de Montriond and enjoys beautiful views towards the surrounding cliffs and forests. It is the perfect place to linger over lunch after a swim, paddleboard session or walk around the lake.

Booking recommended during school holidays and sunny weekends.

Best Family Lunch

Les Lindarets - The Goat Village

For families, this is hard to beat.

Take the Ardent Gondola and arrive at the Les Lindarets bowl, just above the famous Goat Village, where friendly goats roam freely between the chalets, shops and restaurant terraces. One of the highlights for younger visitors is the little tourist road train that runs between Les Lindarets and the top of the Ardent Gondola. Children absolutely love it and it saves tired little legs on the return journey.

La T'chapa

La Ferme des Lindarets

We strongly recommend booking ahead during peak periods.

Other Local Dining & Restaurants

From lively après-ski spots to serene lakeside dining, you don't have to travel far from the chalet to find a great meal.

Slopeside & Après-Ski (Near Ardent & Les Lindarets)

  • Happy Hours Bar (Base of Ardent Lift): Just a 5 minute drive from the chalet, this is the ultimate spot to end your ski day. Known for its massive sun terrace, legendary Wednesday après-ski parties, and great burgers, it is a must-visit before heading home.
  • Mamo's Café (Les Lindarets): A fantastic, cozy stop for breakfast, brunch, or a warming coffee during a long day exploring the Portes du Soleil.

Evening Dining & Pubs

  • Hotel du Lac Restaurant: Set right on the edge of the stunning Lac de Montriond (a 5-minute walk from the chalet), this is a serene, beautiful spot for lunch or an evening meal with unbeatable views.
  • La Marmotte d'Or: A wonderfully cozy, traditional pub in the center of Montriond. Popular with locals and visitors alike, they serve great pub grub, snacks, and frequently host live music nights.
  • Le Rocher: In Montriond centre offers Savoyard specialties along with Pizza to eat in (or takeaway).
  • Wild Beets Kitchen: If you need a break from heavy alpine cheese, this brilliant spot in Morzine serves up fresh, healthy salads, wraps, and great coffee.

Stocking the Chalet: Supermarkets & Essentials

Chalet Truman features a fully equipped kitchen, making it easy to cook for a crowd. Here is where to find the best local ingredients and everyday essentials.

Supermarkets & Groceries

  • Carrefour Drive (Saint-Jean d'Aulps): just a 10 minute drive from Chalet Truman, this large supermarket is a great place to stock up. There is free parking here and we often find it is that little bit cheaper than it's smaller sister shop in Morzine. You will find a wide selection of everything you need for the week.
  • Carrefour Market (Morzine): The most convenient spot for your grocery shop if you are in Morzine. It has limited free short-stay parking and a larger paid parking lot serving Morzine.
  • Sherpa Supermarché (Morzine): Perfect for local specialties. Not only do they have an in-house bakery, but they also offer a brilliant raclette machine rental service — they supply the machine, the local cheese, and the charcuterie for a perfect chalet night in.
  • WineNot: The perfect place to purchase your aperitifs to enjoy during your stay - perhaps a small white wine to accompany the fondue, a gift box... Winenot offers a selection for all tastes and budgets!

Shops, Pharmacies, & every day needs

Saving the best until last, both in and around Morzine there are a number of amazing small independent fromageries, boucheries, boulangeries, and chocolatiers to tempt your taste buds. See local guidance for all shops, including pharmacies.
