Chalet Truman is very much our family home, and we hope you'll feel at home here too.

We know that the occasional breakage or mishap is simply part of family life. If something gets damaged during your stay, please don't worry. Please just let us know (leave a note on the kitchen table or email us: [email protected]) so that we can repair or replace before the next guests arrive.

A Traditional Alpine Chalet

Chalet Truman is a characterful very old mountain home, and part of its charm lies in its quirky layout and original features.

Please note that the chalet has steep stairs to the first floor and split-level areas which may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. Young children should be supervised, particularly on all steps and stairs.

Dogs Welcome

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Chalet Truman.

We ask owners to clean up after their pets, keep dogs under control around livestock and neighbouring properties, and avoid allowing pets onto beds or soft furnishings where possible.

Fire Safety

The chalet is equipped with smoke detectors, a carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguishers and a first aid kit.

For safety reasons:

  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the chalet.
  • Candles must not be used inside the property (we have provided LED alternatives).
  • The log burner in the living room should only be used when the room is occupied. Do not leave the fire burning unattended.
  • Please only use a maximum of two logs at a time and try to keep the fire at the optimum temperature shown on the guage on the flue above the log burner
  • The decorative wood burning oven in the kitchen must not be used.
  • Do not put anything on top of the log burner in the living room.

Water & Energy

Please help us reduce waste by switching off lights and heating when not required and using water thoughtfully during your stay. There is a supply of dry wood logs for the log burner in the living room to the rear of the mazot in the rear garden.

Before You Leave

We don't expect guests to spend their final morning cleaning (a cleaning service will visit after you leave as part of the cleaning fee), but we would be grateful if you could:

  • Wash and put away used kitchen ware, crockery, cutlery, glasses etc.
  • Empty the fridge of perishable goods.
  • Check the bread bin is empty.
  • Please don't leave any food in the cupboards or on the kitchen surfaces which could attract mice.
  • Dispose of all rubbish and recycling appropriately at the communal bins located here.
  • Leave the chalet reasonably tidy, preferably as you would like to find it!
  • Close and lock windows and doors before departure.
  • Return the keys to the key box before you leave.

Most Importantly...

Slow down, enjoy the mountains, swim in the lake, discover somewhere new, and make yourselves at home.

Some of our favourite days in Montriond have involved nothing more complicated than a walk to the lake, a leisurely lunch and an evening watching the light change on the mountains.
